About Charriol Handbags
The Pont des Arts is a charming pedestrian Parisian
bridge famous the world over for being a global destination for couples in
love. Traditionally, couple would attach a padlock and chain to the iron railings,
etched with their initials, as a sign of their enduring love. Over the years
this 19th structure, which links Paris’ trendy south bank with the
Louvre museum, had become weighed down with these romantic symbols. Although
these heavy padlocks have now been removed from the bridge, Pont des Arts remains a symbol of
eternal romance around the world. Having been featured in paintings, song and
cinema, this beautiful monument now inspires a new Charriol handbag collection.
The Pont des Arts range, overseen by Charriol’s Artistic Director, Alexandre
Charriol, includes 12 beautiful handbags in seven different styles, and three
elegant wallets. The bags feature gold hardware such as chains and padlocks,
inspired by the iconic story of the bridge.
The names of each bag - Conti,
Lodi, Seine, Dauphine, Mazarine, Caroussel and Bonaparte - reference the
streets and landmarks that lie around this storied structure. Many of the bags
and wallets are cleverly designed to have two functions: a cross-body bag can
double up as a backpack whilst the wallets are elegant enough to act as an
evening clutch. Each accessory displays the ‘Charriol’ logo and insignia as a
sign of style and quality.
True to Charriol’s commitment to luxurious, refined materials, the handbags
are made from structured or rigid leather. Many come in an optional variant of python
embossed leather, which echoes the luxurious and bohemian trends seen on the
catwalks in recent seasons. A palette of charcoal, blush, prune, turquoise, onyx,
cobalt, burgundy and forest take these bags effortlessly through the seasons.
Among the seven styles, Lodi is a soft yet structured bucket bag with a chain and padlock
detail; Caroussel is a stylish bucket
bag that doubles as a backpack. Bonaparte
is the perfect everyday tote whilst Conti
is a compact and feminine cross-body satchel. Seine is a structured bowling bag with top handles and can double
as a satchel. Dauphine is the ultimate,
perfect-sized shoulder handbag with handy front pocket detail, and Mazarine is a roomy top-handled bag with
double straps. The Pont des Arts long wallets come in four styles: with an
envelope closure, a full zip or snap closure or with a fine strap, which
switches these wallets into an elegant evening bag.
